Illinois picks up an athletic offensive tackle prospect.

Jesse Chadwell, an offensive line recruit, has committed to the University of Illinois. Chadwell stars for Clarkston (Mi.) High School. He also boasts offers from Kent State and Central Michigan. Chadwell claims a 3.1 GPA.

Chadwell stands 6-foot, 5-inches and weighs in at 260 pounds. He appears to be a developmental prospect. Chadwell does a good job in the open field and can get to the second level. He moves fairly well in pass protection, as well. The question with Chadwell is his explosiveness and the ability to move bodies at the point of attack. On the one hand, Chadwell is only 260 pounds and has room to grow. On the other hand, a BCS offensive line prospect should do a better job of getting 1-on-1 movement at the point of attack. Chadwell will definitely need a redshirt and perhaps another year of observation and strength training as well.

Chadwell is the second commitment of the 2013 class for the Illini.
