Artie Burns, a top cornerback recruit, decommitted from the Alabama Crimson Tide Saturday night, per multiple reports. Burns stars for Miami Northwestern High School and had originally committed to Alabama in December of 2011.
Burns also holds offers from Florida State, Louisville, LSU, West Virginia and the hometown Miami Hurricanes. He stands 6'0 and 180 pounds, though he may be a bit less than that during the spring (Burns is a star track athlete).
"I've been thinking about it," Burns said. "Me, my coach and my mom, we had talked about it. They thought I should take my time and look at other schools, see what schools have a better opportunity for me. If I decommitted, it's going to help me look at other schools better."
The loss of Burns is not a good thing for the Tide, but Alabama isn't exactly hurting for elite talent.
