Anthony Walker Jr.'s stock is on the rise.
The top prospect at the Orlando NUC Five-Star Showcase was Anthony Walker Jr., who took home the overall MVP award. SB Nation caught up with Walker Jr. about his recruitment.
Walker Jr. plays for Miami (Fla.) Monsignor Pace High School. He holds an extremely impressive 4.6 GPA and has already scored a 24 on his ACT. He measured in at 6'1" and 209 pounds.
Walker Jr. already has one BCS offer from Purdue, and as one might expect with his academic profile, is also hearing from the Ivy league as well. Walker Jr. has also received interest from South Florida, Central Florida, West Virginia, Miami, and Florida State. He plans to visit USF and UCF soon.
Education is obviously important to Walker Jr. "I want to major in sports administration and business, go to law school and become a sports agent," he said.
His position in college will likely depend on how much he continues to grow, and the style of defense in which he plays. Right now, he looks like a traditional strong safety prospect. But with the proliferation of the spread offense, the traditional strong safety position is less common, and Walker Jr. could end up at linebacker. He has the talent to play either at the BCS level.
SB Nation will see Walker Jr. again at the Nike Football Training Camp in April at Barry University.
