Marcus Baugh Commits To Ohio State

Marcus Baugh, a top tight end recruit, has committed to the Ohio St. Buckeyes. Baugh plays for Riverside, Calif., J.W. North High School. He also holds offers from the Arizona St. Sun Devils, California Golden Bears, Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, Mississippi Rebels, Oregon St. Beavers, Tennessee Volunteers, UCLA Bruins and Washington Huskies.

Baugh stands 6-foot-4 and weighs 220 pounds. That seems like the ideal fit for an offense that doesn't use a traditional tight end, but rather flexes its tight end off the line of scrimmage and moves him around to create mismatches, allowing him to get by as a marginal blocker. No doubt Ohio State and coach Urban Meyer showed Baugh clips of Aaron Hernandez doing just that during his time at the University of Florida.

As you can see in his film, Baugh is much more of a receiver than a tight end at this point. He'll be too big for defensive backs to cover and much too athletic for most opposing linebackers. Baugh is appropriately a consensus four-star recruit and a top-15 tight end nationally.
