UVA lands a commitment from a top safety recruit.
Tim Harris, a top safety recruit, has committed to Virginia. Harris stars for Richmond (Va.) Varina High School. He is a consensus four-star recruit and also held offers from Cal, Georgia Tech, Michigan, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech. Harris committed while visiting for UVA's spring game, tweeting:
UVA IS HOME

Harris' commitment is a big win for head coach Mike London and the Cavaliers. Virginia's defense places a lot of responsibilities on its safeties. The 6'2", 175-pound Harris profiles as a coverage safety and should be up to the task. Harris needs to add bulk and strength, but should eventually play above 200 pounds.
Recruits of Harris' caliber are also important for the image of the program in its attempt to compete with in-state rival Virginia Tech, who beat the Cavaliers 38-0 in 2011.
