Jayme Thompson, a safety recruit, committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes Sunday night, according to multiple published reports. Thompson plays for Toledo (OH) Central Catholic. He is a consensus four-star recruit and is considered one of the top 20 safeties in the country by some services. Thompson's other claimed offers include Cincinnati, Illinois, Louisville, Missouri, Nebraska, Vanderbilt and West Virginia. That's a good, but not great offer list, and Ohio State might have stolen Thompson before some of the top Big Ten schools had the opportunity to offer.
Thompson is a rangy 6'2" and 184 pounds, and according to his Rivals profile, he has a vertical jump of 32 inches and a 4.53 40-yard dash. Thompson's video (below) shows a player with good closing speed and solid fundamentals, though he could use some work on his tackling technique.
Thompson is Ohio State's seventh commitment of the 2013 class.
