Travis Custis, a running back recruit, has committed to the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets according to a report by Scout. Custis plays for Hampton (Ga.) Lovejoy High School. He also claims offers from Boston College, Michigan State, Miami, Mississippi State and South Florida. Custis was receiving heavy interest from Clemson, Kentucky and Vanderbilt as well. Travis visited Georgia Tech for spring practice and pulled the trigger while on campus.
Custis will play the "B-Back" position for the Yellow Jackets, which is the standard fullback spot in Paul Johnson's flexbone offense. He ran for 1,870 yards and 32 touchdowns as a junior. Custis runs low to the ground and has good balance and power. He doesn't profile as a superstar, but is capable of carrying the ball 20 or more times per game and being a major part of a rushing attack. Stylistically, he runs a bit like former Atlanta Falcon Jamal Anderson.
Custis is Georgia Tech's first commitment of the 2013 class.
