Ryan Green of St. Pete (Fla.) Catholic is one of the top running back recruits in the country. The consensus four-star measures in at 5'10" and 195 pounds. After showcasing excellent speed, quickness and fluidity in winning the running back MVP award and an invite to Nike's The Opening at the Orlando Nike Camp (NFTC), Green spoke with SB Nation.
"The competition was great. Everyone is out here giving it their all trying to make it to the opening. It definitely pushed me to work harder," Green said of the other top players at the event.
"I had watched it on Youtube and it looks like a lot of fun, so I knew I wanted to go," Green said when asked about his goal of making it to The Opening.
Green was impressed by Florida linebacker commitment Quinton Powell. "Powell was the only linebacker who could cover me," Green said.
Green holds offers from more than 30 schools, but a few schools are sticking out. "Notre Dame, Florida State and Florida," Green said when asked, though he clarified that they are not in any order. Green has visited all three schools multiple times.
"Notre Dame has great academics, and even if you don't get to that next level, you can always rely on that Notre Dame degree. With Florida State, I've always been a fan. And I like Florida," Green said.
And according to Green, there is a fourth school on the outside looking in. "I also like Tennessee," Green said.
Are there any schools from which Green doesn't yet have an offer that he would still like to hear from? "Oklahoma and Oregon," Green said, citing Oregon's wide open offense and uniforms.
How much will the upcoming season for each program matter to Green? "Not at all. The season doesn't matter at all. I'm all about the program," Green said.
Green does not have a timetable for a decision and plans to commit when he feels comfortable with his decision. In the meantime, Green will focus on improving his blocking.
