The Georgia Bulldogs had a big recruiting weekend as three recruits pledged to UGA.
Receiver Kyrin Priester of Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood High School pulled the trigger for Georgia on Friday to begin the recruiting festivities. Priester is 6'2 and 185 pounds. He is a good student and also holds offers from TCU and Vanderbilt. Receiver is a major position of need for the Bulldogs, and Priester is a good addition. It is still quite early in the recruiting process, and Prister is yet to be rated by the major services. Here's what Priester had to say about his commitment:
"I told Coach [Mark Richt] that I wanted to be a Bulldog; he was happy and he gave me a big hug," Priester told the AJC.
"I committed to Georgia because I like Coach Richt being a great Christian because I'm a believer, too," Priester said. "Also, it was because Georgia needs receivers, I'm a good fit for them and they like me."
Priester looks to have a good blend of speed and strength, and I'd expect him to be a three- or four-star recruit when the services get around to assigning him a rating.
Ryne Rankin, a linebacker from Orlando (Fla.) East River, became the second commitment of the weekend when he made his choice for Georgia clear. Rankin also holds offers from Arizona, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Kansas, Louisville, Mississippi, N.C. State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Florida and Texas A&M. Interestingly, Rankin does not hold offers from Florida or Florida State. He stands 6'1 and weighs 230 pounds, netting him a three-star rating.
The weekend was capped by the commitment of Aulden Bynum, an offensive lineman from Valdosta (Ga.) Valwood High School. Bynum is 6'5 and 265 pounds, which means that he is several years from contributing, as he'll need to add size and become acclimated to playing with the new-found larger build. Bynum is rated three stars and also holds offers from Auburn, Nebraska, North Carolina and South Carolina.
Georgia now has 12 commitments in the class of 2012.
