Corey Martinez -- SB Nation
The Jimbo Fisher camp provided an opportunity for coaches and recruiting analysts to get an up-close look at Corey Martinez, one of the better offensive line recruits for the class of 2014. Out of Tampa (Fla.) Catholic High School, Martinez is a 6'4", 296-pound guard recruit.
"I came up here to see the school, learn about Florida State and work on my fundamentals. I want to compete and have a good time. It's a chance to see the school and the area," said Martinez. The lineman is one of the few elite recruits to show up on Wednesday. Many of the prized youngsters will show up on Thursday. "I wanted to get my money's worth. You have to feel comfortable with the school you're going to because you'll spend four years there. I want to learn as much as I can," said Martinez, who had been up to Florida State once previously. He wanted to learn more about the academics on this particular trip to Tallahassee.
Florida State coach Rick Trickett has a reputation for intense coaching. "It's not for everyone, but I really like it, believe it or not. It helps me because it keeps me in a straight line, and I need that. I need someone who will be on me all the time, and if he's on me, the sky is the limit for what I can be." Martinez said.
As for position, Florida State is looking at Martinez at guard, but he is 16 years old and could still grow into an offensive tackle's body. He currently holds offers from USF and Kentucky, but doesn't favor any schools at this time as he is still evaluating and gathering information on the recruiting process.
