Reports came out on Thursday that consensus No. 1 college football prospect Robert Nkemdiche made a surprise commitment to play for the Clemson Tigers following a visit to the school's campus on Wednesday.
Kipp Adams of Recruiting Nation at ESPN reports that the commitment from the defensive end is indeed genuine.
"I did commit," Nkemdiche said. "I love Clemson."
The prospect will join a pair of high school teammates at Clemson: running back Wayne Gallman and cornerback David Kamara, who also both committed. Nkemdiche was said to be the primary focus for Clemson in its class of 2013 recruiting.
Nkemdiche is predicted to be an instant starter for Clemson in his first season in 2013. He had also been considering Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss and Georgia, among other schools.
