Will Jaylon Smith Choose Notre Dame Or Ohio State?

Jaylon Smith, an elite linebacker recruit, is set to commit Saturday evening. Smith stars for Bishop Luers High School in Fort Wayne, Ind. His offer list consists of almost every major program in the country, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Notre Dame and USC.

Smith will commit to either Notre Dame or Ohio State, with many Irish insiders expecting a commitment from the Indiana superstar. That said, Smith has visited both schools multiple times, and it's never wise to completely rule out Urban Meyer.

What makes Smith a five-star linebacker recruit? His 6'3", 215-pound frame has great length and the promise to eventually hold 235 pounds or more. He has excellent speed in the open field and shuts down plays on which a lesser recruit would not have an angle. In coverage, he easily reroutes receivers and tight ends with his length and strength. He is a similar prospect to 2010 five-star recruit Christian Jones of Orlando's Lake Howell High School.

That said, the competition Smith plays against is very poor. He is rarely challenged and recruiting experts are excited to see him play against players of his caliber in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.
