Washington lands a commitment from an explosive defensive lineman.
Elijah Qualls, a top defensive line recruit, committed to the Washington Huskies Friday afternoon after the conclusion of Washington's summer football camp. Qualls stars for Petaluma (Calif.) Casa Grande High School. He checks in at 6'2 and 280 pounds. Qualls is a consensus four-star recruit, and one of the top 45 defensive linemen nationally.
The news was first reported by Greg Biggins of the Scout network:

Qualls is an excellent athlete, and his athleticism is readily on display as he also plays running back for his high school team. Yes, a 285-pound running back. Qualls isn't real tall, but does play low and use his leverage well. That profiles him well as a penetrating 3-technique defensive tackle for the Huskies, or perhaps as a five-technique end in the 3-4.
Qualls is one of eight commitments for the Huskies who pulled the trigger Friday.
