BEAVERTON, OR -- Laquon Treadwell is a top-seven wide receiver nationally and one of the best players in the country regardless of position. I caught up with Treadwell as part of SB Nation's recruiting coverage of The Opening. The Crete (Ill.) Monee High School recruit was eager to talk about his experience there.
"I've enjoyed the coaching. The competition out here is great. Being around great players and learning stuff from them, too. The facilities are great," He said.
Treadwell was particularly complimentary of the competition, saying that "Shaq Wiggins, Chris Hawkins, Eli, all of the DBs are great."
As the conversation turned to recruiting, Treadwell said that the thought of commiting to Michigan is more of a matter of when, and not if.
"They're not wrong," Treadwell said of those who say his commitment to Michigan is inevitable. "But I won't know for sure until I take other visits."
Treadwell feels at home at Michigan, stating that "Michigan is Michigan. I've been up there like eight times, and the coaching staff has been on me since my sophomore year. I feel comfortable with them, like home.
"The recruits are like a family," he said about the recruits. "And they're good kids. I can hang with them and not get in trouble, and I feel comfortable with them."
Treadwell has a few visits in mind to other schools: Oklahoma State, Oklahoma and Notre Dame. He said that the timetable for his commitment is all about finding the right feel. He said that "It will happen when I have the confidence to come up and say what school I want to attend." Treadwell will commit on ESPN.
