His commitment was not unexpected. After an excellent spring game performance, other programs, including Florida State, began heavily pursuing the big line prospect.
Then, Florida wide receivers coach Aubrey Hill, Johnson's area recruiter who was tied in by Yahoo!'s reporting on the Miami/Nevin Shapiro NCAA scandal saga, resigned his position. Johnson wavered on his commitment back on August 3, and the relationship with Florida apparently did not improve.
Johnson appears to be the only recruit to decommit in the wake of Hill's resignation.
Johnson stands 6'6" and weighs in at 315 pounds. He is a consensus three-star recruit, though ESPN does award him a four-star rating.
Florida's class currently sits at 20 commitments, and the Gators are squarely in the running to have the top class in the country.
