Christian Morgan Enjoys Ole Miss Visit, Still Committed To Florida State

Despite his pledge to Florida State, Christian Morgan took a visit over the weekend to Ole Miss.

It's bad enough for Florida State fans that 2013 Plano (TX) Prestonwood Christian tight end Christian Morgan, currently committed to the Seminoles, made an official visit to see the Ole Miss Rebels over the weekend to take in the contest against the Texas Longhorns.

But then Morgan tweeted out this a picture with two Rebel pledges:

Understandably, it sparked a little bit of a backlash from fans, and Morgan did admit that he is considering switching his pledge ($) from Florida State to Ole Miss:

Everyone kind of freaked out about the picture I put up with me and Ryan and Mark. They're my buddies. I was just kind of messing with them, but I'm thinking about it.

With new head coach Hugh Freeze and his spread offense now installed and making some big plays early in the season, the appeal of early playing time for Morgan is significant:

They said I'd have to play when I come in next year. It's not if you work your way into it. I'd have to come in and produce. I like the way they use (senior tight ends) Jamal (Mosley) and Ferbia Allen. I think I could help them expand that role. They said they get the ball to their playmakers. That's what's exciting about their offense.

The final point was evident on the field on Saturday night, as junior wide receiver Donte Moncrief made several big plays, including a long touchdown catch, and junior running back Jeff Scott had a spectacular run of his own.

But there are other factors at work here, as well, including the scene at the Grove, where there were an estimated 200,000 people reveling in the hours before the game. Morgan commented in another tweet that the Walk of Champions, wherein the Ole Miss players walk through the Grove two hours prior to the game to receive the adulation of their fans, was "the best atmosphere ever."

Morgan also shared a few more thoughts about his trip ($) with 247Sports:

It was a great time. I got to spend time with the coaches, the recruits and some of the players. It was a lot of fun to be a part of. The fans were nuts. I don't think I ever felt that cool in my life walking through the Grove with Ryan and Mark and they were calling my name.

The other major factor? The fact that his younger sister, Ashley, who is a star volleyball player as a junior, may attend school in Oxford regardless of whether she receives a scholarship.

Since it appears that Morgan will be far from home in college, the ability to have his sister there with him could tilt the scales in favor of the Ole Miss Rebels.

Morgan may also visit Baylor before making a final decision on whether to stick with his pledge to Florida State.
