UCLA football recruiting: Bruins compiling best offensive line class in the West

Jeff Gross

The UCLA Bruins are taking the Stanford approach, focusing on recruiting top offensive linemen to try and win the battle in the trenches.

The UCLA Bruins are piecing together what figures to be an important recruiting class in the Jim Mora era. UCLA had a solid 9-5 season that put them on the cusp of a Rose Bowl bid, but the Bruins could not close the deal and ended up stumbling down the stretch after their hot start. Now, it's up to UCLA to prove that it wasn't just a one-hit wonder and build on that positive momentum.

The Bruins have filled their ranks with some nice recruits at multiple positions, and they are still in contention for numerous other top stars. Here are some of the current top commits.

Eldridge Massington: The former USC commit is the headliner of this class, and he could become an immediate contender to find his way into the Bruins receiving corps.

Alex Redmond: The offensive lineman is probably the headliner of a Bruin class stockpiled with big uglies, as UCLA looks to win the battle up front.

Scott Quessenberry: The best center on the West Coast is a critical commitment for a UCLA team that relies heavily on shotgun snaps.

Poasi Moala: You can tell where the focus is for the Bruins in this class. Moala, along with John Lopez and Christian Morris, hope to provide the Bruins with ample pass protection at tackle for years to come. It's all about the offensive line.
