The nation's best high school running back is set to announce his college choice later this month, and Michigan appears to be the school to beat.
Running back prospect Derrick Green announced that he will make his college choice on Jan. 26. Green is a five-star prospect, according to Rivals.com, and the top high school running back in the country.
"I have decided to make my college announcement on January 26, 2013 at 4:00 pm," Green wrote in a Facebook message. "Truly Blessed!!!!"
Green has narrowed his college choices to Tennessee, Michigan and Auburn. Michigan is thought to be in very good shape to land Green, who will be making his decision before the two remaining official visits that he'd planned to take. The Wolverines have done a good job selling his parents on football and the school's academics.
Green finished his senior season at Hermitage (Va.) High School with 1,285 yards rushing and 20 touchdowns. He put up these numbers despite sitting out a total of 17 quarters because his team often had large leads. He ran for 1,500 as a junior in 2011.
