Running back Altee Tenpenny committed to Alabama in January of last year but is nonetheless taking a visit to Arkansas this weekend.
Earlier this month, Tenpenny said he wanted to become more familiar with the new staff at Arkansas, which is why he'll be making the visit there despite his commitment to the Crimson Tide.
According to Rivals.com, Tenpenny is the top prospect from the state of Arkansas and a top-50 recruit in the class of 2013. He is the sixth-best running back in this class, in Rivals' estimation, and his verbal to Alabama is soft according to Scout.com. Will Bret Bielema and Co. be able to convince him to change his mind?
He has offers from a number of major-conference programs, including Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Auburn and Notre Dame, aside from Arkansas and Alabama.
Tenpenny is coming off an official visit to Alabama last weekend. National signing day is less than three weeks away.
Bud Elliott's take: Tenpenny is an extremely important recruit for Bielema and Arkansas. Given the offense Arkansas is planning to run, having a sturdy star back who can take 20+ carries per game is vital, and Tenpenny fits the role perfectly.
