Boyd committed to Pittsburgh early in January, but he'll be in East Lansing to check out Michigan State this weekend.
Update: Boyd will not take his scheduled visit to Michigan State, as he is apparently solid to Pittsburgh.
Wide receiver prospect Tyler Boyd committed to Pittsburgh earlier this month, but he'll be taking a visit to Michigan State anyway, according to 247sports. Boyd, from Clairton High School in Clairton, PA, is a four-star prospect according to Rivals.com and the eighth-best wide receiver in the class of 2013.
He initially visited Pittsburgh last November before committing at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5. He has offers from schools across the country, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.
Boyd is just one visitor in a big weekend for the Spartans, who will be hosting a bunch of prospects. The majority of them are already Michigan State commitments, but there are players in addition to Boyd whom the Spartans are trying to sway. Alec James, an athlete and Wisconsin commit, is one such player. Whether the Spartans will be successful in flipping Boyd -- or James -- remains to be seen.
