Robert Nkemdiche cancels LSU visit: Ole Miss looks even likelier

The nation's top recruit will not be traveling to LSU this weekend, and Ole Miss appears to be getting closer to landing him.

Top defensive end prospect Robert Nkemdiche canceled his scheduled visit to LSU this weekend, and it is looking more and more like he'll end up committing to play for the Ole Miss Rebels. Ole Miss has been one of the favorites to land Nkemdiche since he decommitted from Clemson back in November.

More than three months ago, SB Nation's Steven Godfrey wrote that there was a distinct possibility of Nkemdiche going to Ole Miss, and that was even while he was still committed to Clemson. At that point, Godfrey felt that Clemson was losing its grip on the nation's top recruit, and indeed, he decommitted a few weeks later.

Robert Nkemdiche would have the opportunity to play with his brother, Denzel, which is a major factor in Ole Miss' favor. Denzel led the Rebels in tackles with 82 during the 2012 season and helped the team reach a bowl game, which in turn helped head coach Hugh Freeze and staff build some momentum on the recruiting trail.
