LSU or Alabama for Kendell Beckwith? Star linebacker recruit to decide Friday

Kendell Beckwith - Bud Elliott (SB Nation)

Tigers or Tide?

Kendell Beckwith is set to commit during the Under Armour All-America game Friday night on ESPN. The 6'3, 225-pound linebacker from Jackson (La.) East Feliciana High School will be picking between two fierce SEC West rivals in Alabama and LSU. Beckwith has visited both schools recently, and the decision process was not easy for the big backer.

LSU's advantage is that it is the hometown school, and it has recruited the four-star Beckwith the longest.

Alabama's advantage is its program prestige, with two national titles in its last three seasons.

Beckwith is much better rushing the passer and playing the run than he is defending the pass. He looks like a player who could get quite big. The question for him may come down to whether he wants to remain at linebacker, which would seem to favor LSU, or if he is OK dropping down to defensive end, should he continue to grow, which would favor the Tigers.

Bud's pick: expect Beckwith to pick the hometown LSU Tigers.
