The game was a battle of good defense and inept offense early on. The teams traded punts and failed to gain a first down, but on team Nitro's second possession, it punted to team Highlight and Highlight fumbled, giving the ball back to team Nitro.
Clemson commitment Ben Boulware, a linebacker, and safety Leon McQuay, as of yet undecided on his commitment, both had excellent pass break-ups for team Highlight.
Kicker Ryan Santoro, a Minnesota commitment, missed on a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter.
Chris Jones, a talented Mississippi State commitment at defensive end, had a big sack for team Nitro that ended a drive by team Highlight.
Also in the first quarter, the first commitment of the night happened as linebacker Kendell Beckwith chose LSU over Alabama.
Uncommitted running back Alvin Kamara broke off a nice 28-yard run down the sideline, and was hit late out of bounds by Priest Willis of team Nitro.
Penn State QB commitment Christian Hackenberg followed that with an 18-yard completion to Alabama receiver commitment Robert Foster. Hackenberg was inaccurate on his next two tosses, however, and team Highlight was forced to settle for a field goal.
