Leon McQuay - Bud Elliott (SB Nation)
USC lands a safety with cornerback range.
Leon McQuay committed to the USC Trojans Friday over the Michigan Wolverines, Vanderbilt Commodores and the Florida State Seminoles during the Under Armour All-America Game.
Out of Seffner (Fla.) Armwood High School, McQuay is a great cover safety with cornerback range. At 6'2, he has excellent length and instincts. He is a consensus four-star recruit.
There was some scuttlebutt throughout the week regarding McQuay's ability to enroll early. Michigan and Florida State had approved him for early enrollment. Vanderbilt followed, and the question remained regarding USC's stance on the issue.
But McQuay obviously believes that he has or will be approved to enroll early at USC.
The quiet McQuay was always hard to read throughout his recruiting process, and many believe his family wanted him to stay closer to home, perhaps at Vanderbilt or Florida State. But McQuay stuck with his heart and chose the Trojans, despite the fact that USC doesn't have a defensive coordinator.
McQuay wants to major in music production, and has already produced several tracks.
