N.C. State football recruiting 2013: 'Pack in middle of ACC pack

Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

While they struggle on the field, NC State's recruiting has been going pretty well in Dave Doeren's first year.

Dave Doeren is in his first year as head coach at NC State, and while things may not be going so well on the field, the Wolfpack are recruiting pretty well and stand in the middle of the ACC pack.

NC State's class ranks 35th in the country, with 22 commitments (20 of them three-star recruits). That's good for seventh in the conference, above Boston College and Georgia Tech.

Leading the way for the Wolfpack's class is Jalan McClendon. The quarterback from West Mecklenburg (N.C.) High School is considered a three-star prospect by the 247sports composite. He is rated as the 23rd-best pro-style quarterback in the country and the 15th-best player in the state.

Another big get for NC State is Justin Jones. The defensive end from South Cobb (Ga.) High School is rated a three-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the 20th-best weak-side defensive end in the country and the 35th-best player in the state.

Germaine Pratt is another top talent coming into the program. The safety from High Point Central (N.C.) High School is considered a three-star by the 247sports composite. He is rated the 32nd-best safety in the country and the 16th-best player in the state.

Cole Cook is another big commitment for NC State. The tight end from Carrolton (Ga.) High School is rated a three-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the 20th-best tight end in the country and the 42nd-best player in the state.
