Out of Bellevue (Wash.) High School, Baker stands 5'9 and weighs in at 174 pounds, and he runs a reported 4.45-second 40-yard dash. He's a consensus four-star prospect and listed as the No. 6 athlete and No. 1 player from Washington by the 247Sports composite ratings. Scout, Rivals and ESPN have Baker as a safety, ranking him No. 4, No. 7 and No. 9, respectively, at his position.
Baker holds 14 scholarship offers, mostly from schools in the western United States. He committed to the Ducks over Washington, UCLA, USC, Arizona and Arizona State, among others. Outside of Pac-12 territory, he also has offers from Notre Dame and Texas A&M.
In his junior season, Baker earned Washington Class 3A All-State honors after recording 81 tackles and picking off six passes (returning two for TDs). On offense, he averaged 16 yards per carry and 26 yards per catch with a total of 19 scores.
In addition to being a standout on the gridiron, Baker is a first-teamer on SB Nation's Class of 2014 all-name team.
Budda Baker is incredible: It's alliterative, it's balanced, and it includes both perfect enlightenment and a timeless profession.
