There's a surprise entry into the competition for Dee Liner, as the five-star defensive lineman, previously believed to be heavily favoring Alabama, will take a visit to Georgia.
It hasn't been a well-kept secret that former-Auburn commit Dee Liner is likely to sign with Alabama, but with a surprise visit to Georgia, that might have become less of a sure thing.
Liner decommitted from Auburn after Gene Chizik was fired, and immediately eliminated the Tigers from his finalists. That didn't leave many options. Although Miami was still hypothetically in the running, it seemed like the 6'2, 274-pound defensive end from Muscle Shoals, Alabama only had eyes for the Crimson Tide. But a report from Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution indicates that Liner reached out to the Bulldogs, and will visit the campus this weekend after meeting with Mark Richt.
It's a bit of a surprise. Georgia isn't even listed by Rivals among the schools that had offered Liner a scholarship. With signing day less than a week away, this will be his last visit to a school. Liner will make his decision official on signing day, when he announces his decision live on ESPNU. Here's a timeline of Liner's decision process.
