Priest Willis signing after Wednesday: Good news for LSU?

Bud Elliott, SB Nation

Four-star safety Priest Willis supposedly picked UCLA over LSU last month, but he'll hold off on signing a letter of intent until Friday, reportedly to continue mulling over his decision.

UCLA commit Priest Willis could still be an option for LSU, as the safety reportedly told members of Les Miles' coaching staff that he wouldn't be signing with any school on Wednesday.

The vast majority of college football players will send signed letters of intent on National Signing Day Wednesday, but Willis won't do that until Friday, according to James Smith of NOLA.com. He's reportedly still choosing, despite his pledge to UCLA.

Willis, a 6-foot-2, 185-pounder out of Tempe, Arizona, is considered a four-star player at either safety or cornerback. He was nationally recruited, taking visits to Florida State, Nebraska, and Virginia, but his final decision was between LSU and UCLA. Willis picked UCLA last month, was reportedly part of a package deal with fellow four-star safety Tahaan Goodman, and his decision was met with much fanfare by Bruins fans. But it seems he's having second thoughts.

Playing time at both schools will be hard to come by: Willis is one of four four-star defensive backs committed to UCLA, but LSU has a five-star in Tra'davious White, plus four four-stars, and that's without Willis.
