Bud Elliot, SB Nation
Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide landed a big running back on signing day.
Derrick Henry, out of Yulee, Fla., has enrolled at the Alabama Crimson Tide. Henry had no shortage of offers, as he was recruited by the nation's top programs, including USC, Notre Dame, Florida, and Georgia. He was initially committed to Georgia, but changed after his visit to Alabama.
Standing at 6'3 and weighing 243 pounds, Henry is a running back in a tight ends body. He doesn't have breakaway speed, but was relied upon to carry the rock nearly 36 times a game as a senior. He tallied an absurd 4,261 yards 55 touchdowns, and fumbled just once in all those rushes.
Henry worked out of the Wildcat in high school, something Alabama likes to do with their stable of talented backs. All those backs doesn't really phase Henry, as he told MaxPreps last July that he is ready to compete. Henry will get a head start, as he enrolled in January and will participate in Spring practice.
Ratings: 5 stars (Scout, ESPN), 4 stars (Rivals)
Vitals: 6'3, 243 pounds, 4.52-4.72 40
Other offers: Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Tennessee, Notre Dame, USC
