Max Browne enrolled at USC: could QB recruit start for Trojans?

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

We look a little bit further inside the commitment of Skyline quarterback Max Browne to the USC Trojans.

The USC Trojans have had some rough patches trying to keep their recruiting class together, but one of the players who held firm was Skyline quarterback Max Browne from Sammamish, Wash. Browne is widely considered the best available pro-style quarterback in the 2013 recruiting class, and figures to compete immediately for starting time. Browne committed to USC early in the process over schools like Oklahoma, Alabama, and Washington.

Browne is an early entree for the Trojans in 2013. At 6'5, 214 pounds, he already has the prototypical frame and necessary physical and mental ability to make all the standard throws. Browne has been a relentless producer throughout high school. Browne was also named the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year and led Skyline to two straight Class 4A state titles.

Browne's commitment to the Trojans is vitally important for Lane Kiffin. The USC head coach might have to call on the talented true freshman to start as soon as he arrives on campus. With the departure of Matt Barkley to the NFL, it remains to be seen whether Max Wittek or Cody Kessler are capable enough to hold up the mantle. Because of his EE status, Browne will be able to practice during spring camp and will then be available for fall camp.
