Tyrone Crowder, an offensive lineman from Richmond County High School (N.C.), is going to play his college football for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers instead of Georgia. Crowder had numerous offers and interest from other big-time programs, but he decided that Clemson was the best place for him.
Crowder is considered the eighth-best player at his position and the No. 161 overall prospect in the class of 2013 by 247Sports. Rivals rates him similarly, but a bit lower in both cases.
SB Nation's Shakin The Southland says Crowder will play guard at the college level, and that he could be a contributor early in his career:
He will be switched to guard in college but despite about 20 pounds of unwanted weight--he is agile and can bend. He also has a powerful base and some serious strength. He is the real deal and will only get better as cuts a bit of weight. He may need to redshirt but I could see him playing in his redshirt frosh year.
Clemson's offensive line returns four starters in 2013.
Vitals: He is 6'2 and weighs 315 pounds.
Other offers: Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina
Recruitment timeline: Over the course of his junior and senior years, Crowder took unofficial visits to Clemson, North Carolina, N.C. State, Auburn, Georgia, South Carolina and Florida. He took an official to Clemson in January, which helped sway him to the Tigers.
