Tyler Foreman signs with UCLA: Bruins safety brings the hits

Tyler Foreman - Bud Elliott, SB Nation Recruiting

Tyler Foreman figures to be yet another option for the UCLA Bruins at the safety position.

The UCLA Bruins are getting quite the recruiting haul. Tahaan Goodman and Priest Wilis would be a great pair of safeties for any college football team to land in one class. But just for good measure they added Tyler Foreman to ensure long-term stability at the position.

Bruins Nation had this comment on Foreman's abilities and how he could fit in at UCLA.

Sounds like someone who can really fit in the mold of a Dalton Hilliard, who often plays the role of both a LB and an extra DB within our 4-3 scheme.

Foreman is known for one thing from his high school tape that a safety would love to be known for: Hitting. Foreman finds his man almost every time and sticks him to the ground. Whether it's holding the outside or finishing off plays at the second level, Foreman does a solid job in run support in finishing things when the rest of his defense needs help. Foreman does a fine job too in pass support, diagnosing where the football is going and providing immediate help to his corners or linebackers when they need it.

While Goodman and Willis are probably more flexible and could play multiple positions (whether at either safety or cornerback) Foreman seems like a logical candidate to get pigeonholed into the strong safety spot just because of his tackling ability.

Ratings: Foreman was a consensus four-star recruit.

Vitals: Foreman stands tall at 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 195 pounds.

Other offers: Foreman had offers from the majority of the Pac-12 from schools like Cal, Arizona, Arizona State, with other schools like Oklahoma, Wisconsin and Missouri taking a peak as well.

Recruitment timeline: Foreman originally made a commitment to Wisconsin, but then most of the Badgers coaching staff departed when Bret Bielema went on to Arkansas. Here is the UCLA football recruiting update storystream.
