National Signing Day is kicking off, but Hayden Rettig has already made the trek from the West Coast to the SEC. Rettig enrolled a LSU a few weeks ago and is already set to compete in spring camp for the Tigers' starting quarterback position.
In terms of athleticism, Rettig is definitely one of the more polished prospects out there in this class. Rettig has an ability to not just uncork the football but recognize where to go depending on the coverage. He shows the early signs of a capable collegiate pro-style quarterback.
Bud Elliott has more about Rettig in this commitment story for SB Nation.
At 6'3 and 210 pounds, Rettig possesses good size for the quarterback position. He clearly has been the recipient of some quarterback coaching, as his feel for the game and approach are quite smooth and polished. Rettig has the arm to get the ball where it needs to go, but also shows some anticipation. That's important, as all too often quarterback recruits with big arms get in trouble by relying on RPMs and not timing or accuracy.
Ratings: Rettig is a consensus four-star, pro-style quarterback.
Vitals: Rettig stands 6'3 and weighs in at 190 pounds
Other offers: Rettig had half a dozen offers from Pac-12 schools including the Arizona schools, Cal and UCLA, as well as fellow SEC contenders like Auburn and Vanderbilt and other teams like Boston College and Purdue.

Recruitment timeline: Rettig received interest from numerous schools and took visits to USC and Auburn, but it seemed he had eyes for LSU first, committing early in the process in the spring and then taking his official in November.
