Penn State has landed Marcus Allen, a four-star safety recruit from Upper Marlboro (Md.) Dr. Henry A Wise Jr, boosting the defensive talent in the Nittany Lions' 2014 class.
The 6'1, 180-pound prospect had offers from 26 schools, and was considering Maryland and Pittsburgh before deciding on Penn State. The consensus four-star recruit is ranked as the No. 23 safety nationally and the No. 7 player in Maryland according to 24/7's composite rankings.
Allen is the seventh recruit in Bill O'Brien's class, which can't have more than 15 members due to NCAA sanctions. He's the third four-star recruit and the second defensive back, although four-star athlete De'Andre Thompkins could switch to cornerback if the coaching staff opts not to play him at wide receiver. Despite the recruiting restrictions, the Nittany Lions currently boast the No. 15 class in the nation in 24/7's rankings, with a lot of early recruits and relatively high rankings for those who have pledged already.
