Andrew Brown commits to Virginia: Cavs land elite defensive tackle recruit

USA TODAY Sports

Mike London and the 'Hoos picked up a monster commitment in the form of Andrew Brown, the top-rated defensive tackle in the 2014 recruiting class.

Consensus five-star defensive tackle Andrew Brown has committed to the Virginia Cavaliers. Brown is the top-rated defensive tackle in the 2014 recruiting class, and the second-rated player in the state of Virginia behind fellow five-star defensive end Da'Shawn Hand.

At 6'4, 282 pounds, the Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith product gives the Cavaliers a monster to anchor their defensive line. He ended up choosing Virginia over Virginia Tech, Alabama and Clemson, giving them a big recruiting win over their in-state rivals.

Brown immediately becomes the Wahoos' top commitment, and their ninth in the 2014 recruiting cycle. He's the second five-star in-state recruit to commit to Virginia this year, following Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside safety Quin Blanding.
