4-star Raymon Minor commits to Virginia Tech over Marshall

Bob Donnan-USA TODAY Sports

Four-star athlete Raymon Minor made a National Signing Day commitment to play for Virginia Tech, who beat out Marshall and Nebraska for the potential wide receiver or outside linebacker.

Raymon Minor, one of the top athletes in the 2014 recruiting class, committed to Virginia Tech on Wednesday.

Minor hails from Benedictine Prep (Va.) and stands in at 6'3 and 215 pounds, giving him some position flexibility once he hits the college ranks. He's listed as an athlete by most scouting services, though most feel he will eventually wind up as a wide receiver or outside linebacker after excelling at both positions in high school. It will be very interesting to see how the Virginia Tech coaching staff plans to develop him moving forward.

Minor is rated by 247Sports' composite rankings as the 245th best prospect in the 2014 class. He is also listed as the 19th best athlete nationally, as well as the ninth-best recruit from the state of Virginia this year. His three finalists were Marshall, Nebraska and Virginia Tech, though most experts believed he would be a Hokie when all was said and done.

SB Nation's Bud Elliott, along with everyone else, projected Minor to the Hokies, though there was some concern that his grades would keep him away from Blacksburg.

Minor is a fantastic athlete with plenty of size (6'3, 210). Out of Richmond (Va.) Benedictine, he has offers from multiple programs, including Virginia Tech, Miami and Nebraska.

Bud Elliott, National Recruiting Analyst: Recruiting analysts often raise an eyebrow when a prospect with major BCS offers visits Marshall, as it often indicates issues with grades. I am not saying that is the case with Minor, however, and will stick with Virginia Tech until I hear otherwise

Here are some highlights of Minor in action.
