The Badger offense finally woke up against Purdue, rushing for over 300 yards en route to an easy 38-14 win.
This season hasn't started the way Wisconsin Badger fans would like, but the Badgers looked good as they beat the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, 38-14. The Badger offense that looked so bad for the first month of the season put up 645 total yards, including an astounding 467 on the ground.
The Badger running game finally looked the way many thought they would. Montee Ball absolutely went off, ripping off 247 rushing yards and three touchdowns, including a 67 yard score in the third quarter that effectively put the game away for Wisconsin. James White had a big day too, scoring once and putting together 124 yards on the ground. Ball's third touchdown gave him 72 for his career, breaking the Big Ten record for total touchdowns.
The Boilermakers looked like they were going to be competitive at first. Caleb TerBush scored on a one yard run 9 seconds into the first quarter, one play after a 52 yard pass to Antavian Edison. However, after that drive, Purdue struggled mightily. The Badger defense was in the Purdue backfield all game, and sacked TerBush five times. Akeem Hunt added an 81 yard touchdown run with two minutes left, but by that point the game was well in hand.
Box Score Hero: Montee Ball was a beast, putting up 247 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: Neither team was ranked coming into the game, but there's a chance Wisconsin may be soon if they can keep performing like this.
But did they cover? Wisconsin was only a one point favorite, so they covered the spread easily.
What's next?
Wisconsin: 10/20 vs. Minnesota
Purdue: 10/20 at Ohio State
