Eddie Lacy got things going on the second play from scrimmage, breaking a few early Missouri tackles to go 73 yards down the sideline and cutting back across for an Alabama touchdown. Then it was Corbin Berkstresser throwing the first of two interceptions to Vinnie Sunseri, and Alabama would capitalize with another Lacy touchdown punch, this one from three yards. Soon after that, Landon Collins would block a Missouri punt that set up the Crimson Tide in the red zone, and then T.J. Yeldon pounded it in soon thereafter to make 21-0. Yeldon would add a 15 yard rush to put Alabama up 28-0.
After a suspension of play due to lightning, Missouri would respond with a Marcus Murphy 98 yard kickoff return for the touchdown to put the Tigers on the board. After a Missouri field goal cut the lead to 28-10, Lacy converted a huge 4th down to move the ball and the clock, then plunged it in from a yard out to end the game.
