Here are the highlights from LSU's 23-21 victory over South Carolina.
LSU would be the first team to strike. A Zach Mettenberger shovel pass to Spencer Ware for 27 yards set up LSU in South Carolina territory. That play led to a Drew Alleman 23-yard field goal to make it 3-0 Tigers. As it looked like LSU was ready to drive for another score, Jimmy Legree stepped in front of a Mettenberger throw and went 70 yards the other way. That set up a routine Connor Shaw two yard throw to Ace Sanders to give South Carolina a 7-3 lead.
In the second half, Jeremy Hill had a tough, physical seven yard run to put LSU back up 10-7. Marcus Lattimore would do him one back with a second effort two yard touchdown run to put South Carolina up 14-10, but from then on the Tigers took control. After LSU kicked a field goal to cut the lead to 14-13, Shaw threw an ill-advised interception to Eric Reid that set up another three points for the Tigers. Then it would be Hill again, bouncing through the holes before exploding ahead to put LSU up 23-14. Shaw would lead a late touchdown drive for South Carolina, but LSU would pick off his final last desperate throw.
