The No. 19 Clemson Tigers get back to work after an off week when the Virginia Tech Hokies visit Memorial Stadium this Saturday.
Clemson's high-powered offense has been the catalyst for its 5-1 start. The Tigers rank 12th in the FBS in points scored at 41.3 points per game. Their 525.8 yards of total offense per game is good for 13th in the country. Quarterback Tajh Boyd leads the ACC in passing yards with 291 per game, while wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins leads in conference in receiving yards with 777.
Stopping the explosive Clemson attack will be a tall task for Virginia Tech, who has had some defensive issues this season. Prior to beating Duke last weekend, the Hokies gave up 48 points in a 48-34 loss to North Carolina. The Hokies also gave up 35 points in a loss to Pittsburgh on Sept. 15. The Hokies have shown an ability to score this season (30.7 points per game), but the way their defense has performed at times, it may be difficult to keep up with the potent Tigers.
Game time, TV channel: Noon ET, ABC/ESPN 2
Point spread: Clemson is favored by 8.5 points.
