Leading up to the matchup, there will surely be questions about the Irish's starting quarterback. Tommy Rees led Notre Dame to a thrilling victory in overtime against the Stanford Cardinal with Everett Golson, who normally starts, on the bench after sustaining a hard hit and concussion. Golson returned to Irish practice Wednesday.
The Cougars, on the other hand, are coming off of a crushing loss to the Oregon State Beavers, which were featuring their backup quarterback. If the Cougars are to hang with an Irish defense, which allows the second fewest points in the nation, their own defense will have to step up big.
Game time, TV channel: 3:30 p.m. ET, NBC
Point spread: Notre Dame is favored by 13 points at home
