TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga will miss Saturday's contest against Texas Tech with an apparent foot injury.
TCU defensive end Stansly Maponga will not play in the Horned Frogs' game vs. the Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, according to TCU beat reporter Stefan Stevenson.
The junior injured his foot and ankle in the first half of the game against Baylor a week ago. He figures to be replaced in the contest by two true freshman, James McFarland and Josh Carraway, in a committee approach. TCU has been through a substantial amount of injuries in 2012, with 12 starters missing games on the season.
Maponga was the only Horned Frogs player to be named to the All-Big 12 team in the preseason and was on his way to living up to that honor before suffering the injury. He amassed 12 tackles, including a sack, and three quarterback hurries.
TCU is ranked No. 23 in the nation and is 2-1 in conference play heading into Saturday's home game. They'll have a real test in Texas Tech, which is ranked No. 17 and is 2-1 in the Big 12.
