It went down to the wire, but in the end the No. 16 Louisville Cardinals won to stay unbeaten on the year.
A USF Hail Mary was picked off as time expired, putting an end to a South Florida comeback and sealing a 27-25 victory for the Louisville Cardinals over the South Florida Bulls on Saturday.
On the heels of a pair of rushing touchdowns during the second quarter, Louisville established a 14-3 lead at the half. The second half, though, was won by the Bulls, who came on strong in the third and fourth quarters to narrow the score and eventually take the lead. After leading several successful drives early in the fourth quarter, Bulls quarterback B.J. Daniels completed a 12-yard pass to Andre Davis, giving USF a 25-21 lead with just over three minutes remaining in the game.
Louisville, though, would not go so easily, as Teddy Bridgewater led a successful drive immediately thereafter, completing an 11-yard touchdown pass to Eli Rogers with 1:35 remaining to seal the Cardinals' victory.
With the win, Louisville improves to 7-0 on the year.
Box Score Hero: Teddy Bridgewater was quite efficient for the Cardinals. The sophomore quarterback out of Miami completed 21 of 25 passes for 256 yards and two scores. He also led the Louisville rushing attack with 74 yards on 10 carries.
Rankings Ramifications: Heading into the weekend, Louisville was ranked No. 16, a ranking which can only improve with a win over a conference foe.
But Did They Cover? Louisville were six-point favorites in this game, so USF did cover the spread.
Next Week's Schedule: South Florida will host the Syracuse Orange at 7:00 p.m. ET, and Louisville will host the Cincinnati Bearcats at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
