BYU vs. Notre Dame: Bad Tommy Rees might not need good Tommy Rees

Tommy Rees started out hot against BYU, then threw seven straight incompletions before a big heave set up the go-ahead score.

George Atkinson III scored in the fourth quarter to bring Notre Dame back from a rare deficit against BYU, running in an end-around near the goal line and quite possibly sealing this one up for the Irish. It's now 17-14:

Notre Dame's allowed just 200 yards to Riley Nelson and company, and might not need Tommy Rees to do his Mariano Rivera thing this time around. The Cougars don't show many signs of being able to score again on Notre Dame.

On the day, Rees is 7-of-16 for 117 yards, a touchdown and a pick. He also lofted a 31-yarder to T.J. Jones that set up the Atkinson score.
