Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

FSU running back Chris Thompson injured his left knee in the second quarter of the Seminoles' game against Miami, and will not return.

Florida State Seminoles running back Chris Thompson has left the Seminoles' game against the Miami Hurricanes with a knee injury. The speedy running back was injured when he was tackled in the second quarter, and had to be assisted off the field. It appeared that he couldn't put any weight on his left leg. Thompson will not return to the game, and it's unclear whether this injury will keep him out for more than just the rest of this game.

It originally wasn't clear what exactly Thompson injured, but the official FSU football Twitter account confirmed that he injured his knee.

Thompson was having a great year for the Seminoles up to this point. He had 640 yards and five touchdowns on the ground entering the Miami game, and 19 catches for 201 yards. The Florida State backfield has plenty of good options, but the Seminoles will really miss Thompson's big-play ability if he has to miss significant time.
