The Crimson Tide destroyed the rival Volunteers 44-13 on the road.
Most people thought it was going to be tough for the Tennessee Volunteers to keep up with the Alabama Crimson Tide. Most people were right, as the Tide crushed their rivals, 44-13 in Knoxville. A.J. McCarron lit up the Tennessee secondary for over 300 yards, freshman tailback T.J. Yeldon had 130 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, and Amari Cooper had 163 yards and two touchdowns receiving.
Alabama got out to a 20-3 lead in the second quarter, and the game was effectively over. The Vols offense couldn't move the ball with any consistency against the Alabama defense, and they turned the ball over twice to make matters worse. Tyler Bray was 13-27 for 182 yards and two interceptions before being replaced by Justin Worley in the fourth quarter when the game was well out of reach. Justin Hunter lead the team with 69 receiving yards and Cordarrelle Patterson had only one catch.
This was the Crimson Tide's sixth straight win over the Volunteers.
Box Score Hero: McCarron had a great day, going 17-22 for 307 yards and four touchdowns.
Rankings Ramifications: Alabama is going to stay comfortably ahead of the pack at number one, and Tennessee is going to remain unranked.
But did they cover? Alabama was favored by 20 points, so they covered the spread.
What's next?
Alabama: 10/27, vs. Mississippi State
Tennessee: 10/27, at South Carolina
