Idaho head coach Robb Akey's contract has been terminated after a 1-7 start this season, according to a report.

Idaho football head coach Robb Akey has been fired, according to Footballscoop.com. Akey's Idaho Vandals are off to a 1-7 start this season and are just 3-17 since 2011. Idaho's sole victory came against the New Mexico State Aggies back on Oct. 6.

Akey would finish his time at the school with a 20-50 record, higlighted by an 8-5 season in 2009 that resulted in a Humanitarian Bowl victory, just the Vandals' second-ever bowl win. He's been at Idaho since 2007, coming aboard by way of Washington State and Northern Arizona.

The final straw for the team appears to have come this Saturday, when the Vandals were defeated by Louisiana Tech by a final score of 70-28. The Bulldogs accumulated 839 total yards, including 408 yards on the ground. On the season, Idaho has been outscored by 208 points.

The Vandals will have a bye week to sort things out before taking on the San Jose State Spartans on Saturday, Nov. 3.
