In a Q&A with Arizona State defensive coordinator Paul Randolph, House of Sparky learned that injured defensive linemen Will Sutton and Junior Onyeali are feeling well and moving around a little bit:
"Physical game the other night but they are doing well, the sun came up, and that's what we talk about everyday. The sun will come up in Tempe, Arizona."
Sutton was hurt during the Sun Devils' 43-21 loss to the Oregon Ducks after forcing a fumble on the second play of the game. He watched the rest of the loss on crutches as the Ducks were able to run for 329 yards in the first half alone against a defense that allowed 187.8 rushing yards per game coming in.
Sutton took his 8.5 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles to the sidelines and his absence created a crater the Sun Devils couldn't fill on the defensive line:
"Naturally, when you lose a force like Will you lose a lot of production. But I think more than that, I just think the enthusiasm, passion and energy that he provides for the defensive unit and team. I think we lost a little bit of that early but then toward the second half we started playing better."
Onyeali suffered an arm injury in the first quarter of the game against Oregon as well, leaving the Sun Devils without their two leaders in tackles for a loss. Knowing that both of them are feeling better and have a positive outlook moving forward is a good sign for the Sun Devils, who will need to regroup before hosting UCLA this Saturday.
