Perry Hills injury: ACL injury ends Maryland starting QB's year

Mitch Stringer-US PRESSWIRE

Maryland's lost either its second or third quarterback for the season, depending on how you look at it.

Maryland Terrapins quarterback Perry Hills is done for the year due to an ACL injury, the school announced Monday. Hills was carted off the field against NC State after suffering the knee injury.

He's the second starting quarterback to be lost for the year for the Terps, after C.J. Brown went down just before the season began. Combined with Danny O'Brien's transfer to Wisconsin, and the backfield situation in College Park is looking as bleak as ever.

Fellow freshman Caleb Rowe and sophomore Devin Burns each took a turn in relief on Saturday, with Rowe completing the first two passes of his college career. Rowe is a 6'2 dropback passer from South Carolina who had no other FBS scholarship offers, according to Rivals. Burns is a converted wide receiver who was a highly recruited all-around athlete out of high school.

Hills played better than might've been expected, leading the Terps to an unexpected 4-2 record before his exit in a tight loss to the Wolfpack.
