Lorenzo Mauldin injury: Louisville DL helped off field

The Louisville defensive lineman was carted to the locker room just before halftime.

In the second quarter of a Friday night game against the Cincinnati Bearcats, Louisville defensive lineman Lorenzo Mauldin had to be helped from the field with a left leg injury. With just seconds remaining in the half, he was then moved from the trainer's table on the sideline to a cart on which he was taken to the locker room.

The loss of Mauldin would be a significant one for the Cardinals, as the sophomore leads the team in sacks for the season with 4.5 and was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against South Florida that included two sacks, three tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

As a freshman, Mauldin saw just two starts ad primarily contributed on special teams and even had some snaps at the tight end position. The unbeaten record for the Cardinals is in jeopardy as Louisville trails the Bearcats at halftime, 17-14.

Mauldin was officially ruled out for the remainder of the game at halftime.
